THREE DAYS IN FEBRUARY - A 90 MIN EXPERIENCE

Evocative, immersive, and emotional, the sound in this film isn’t just a backdrop, it’s the backbone. The aural design transports the viewer to a magical place outside of time and day-to-day drudgery.” Doc Edge International Judges 2025

CINEMA EXPERIENCE:
Three Days in February (June 2025) an award winning feature film and live cinematic music experience.

WHERE THE CINEMA UNIVERSE MEETS THE DANCE FLOOR WORLD.  A DELIGHTFUL SENSORY IMMERSION OF PLAY, JOY, HUMAN CONNECTION. IGNITED BY AN AURAL DESIGN THAT TRANSPORTS THE VIEWER TO A MAGICAL PLACE OUTSIDE OF TIME AND SPACE.

Filmed over seven years, featuring a non-conventional narrative, this film is set against the backdrop of Aotearoa's (New Zealand’s) most colourful and diverse outdoor music and arts festival. Long-held cinematic shots, narrated by the uniquely created multigenre score, invite the audience to stop, breathe, and notice the space between each other, ourselves, and nature, braving us to the raw, colourful essence of playfulness and simply -  what it means to be human.

"The audience is invited to connect and choose one's own emotion to the humanness of each frame". Director Serena Stevenson.

Serena Stevenson's 'Three Days in February' at the Civic was extraordinary; the best work of multimedia art I've ever experienced. And a profoundly optimistic one.
It was shot at Splore over several years, but it's really about people – people finding their little moments of joy, laughter, beauty and humanity. The way it's shot and presented – the close-ups of faces, run in slow motion on the big screen – is extraordinarily intimate, like looking into someone's soul. There's a repeated theme of getting back up.
The live soundtrack (with Pitch Black, a string quartet, a choir, and more) and the film itself were indivisible on the night. I don't think they knew whether all the work would come together until they did it, but it sounded and looked magnificent.

I'm so glad to have been there on the one and only night when the full work was performed. Russel Brown THE LISTENER.
