In 2004, over 20 000 people walked in protest Hikoi (is a term in the Maori language of New Zealand generally meaning a protest march or parade, usually implying a long journey taking days or weeks) against the Foreshore and Seabed Bill in New Zealand. This protest was the largest protest in the country since the 1970’s and it asserted that the bill violated article 2 of the Treaty of Waitangi, which states that foreshore and seabed would not be owned by the crown, but be free for the people.
In 2016, many people around the world raised their voices in protest of the TPPA. The New Zealand media were critised as portraying these people as low-life’s. I photographed the protesters marching down Auckland city’s main street - Queen Street, and saw a diverse beautiful group of New Zealanders standing up for their beliefs.
2017 has brought about a global protest standing together for woman's rights, The right to be be free to be feminine to be ourselves in the true sense of power. I photographed the last hour of the Auckland's Woman march. With each person who walks along side another the energy unites. I photograph up close and personal, making an authentic connection with each beautiful human.
2020 the year of COVID. Only days after level four lockdown in Auckland, New Zealand people walked the main street in protest against racism. The Global movement #Blacklivesmatter reflected a history of racism.
