2003 marked a year that changed the way I use/work with photography. I was living in a Mt Eden studio photographing for advertising agencies, magazines and direct clients — funding my personal work with commercial. I got the opportunity to photograph and film my first Tā Moko (Māori facial tattoo). With an intensive weekend of filming and photographing (one camera in each hand), I made a short film titled 'Moko Art Of Nature'. With the collaboration of the artists, the film screened worldwide on the National Geographic Channel and was also shown at the first global digital film festival, Resfest. That was it for me, there was no looking back. To bring my photographic passion to another medium and audience was exciting. My multimedia style evolved from there, here is a selection of work, motion, Interdisciplinary media, Transmedia and advertising campaigns directed and produced.

ROOTS ON THE MOVE is a story that transcends borders. Through music and dance, east meets west, youth are free to express themselves. As a result, a district of diverse culture is unified. This film was self-funded and made over a four year period. It was a labor of love, for the people of the North East. I have a lot of gratitude for the musicians, both from India and Australia who travelled far to bring their love of music to the North East (It is connected to East India via a narrow corridor squeezed between independent nations of Bhutan and Bangladesh), thus helping directly empower youth from all corners of the region. This 70 minute film has screened at Globins Doc Film Festival Berlin, Melbourne, Auckland and throughout India. |
